Top Five Reasons Why and How You Should Learn the Quran

Around 80% of the world’s Muslims are non-native speakers of Arabic. In line with Pew Research Center, this figure constitutes almost one billion people. Muslims consider the Quran a divine revelation, compiled in a book recited and recorded in Arabic. And it is mandatory that every Muslim should recite and listen to the Quran during formal prayers. That is why it is inevitable for all Muslims to learn the Quran.

But have you ever felt the fear of reading the Quran with no proper tajweed? On reading the translation because many told you that if you misread the verses, it was sinful? Sounds familiar?

Let’s face it: Every next person may be bombing you with such ‘fears’ and ‘sins,’ and you might end up not doing anything. You might think, “Why should I do it if it’s all going to end up being sinful? Might as well I know nothing and learn no Quran. The least I will not be liable for is what I did not know.”

These are the lines you tell yourself every time you want to read the Quran, but you are afraid to do so. If you’re having a hard time understanding the Quran or feeling demotivated reading it, I’d like to share the top five reasons why and how you should learn the Quran online.

1. Learning the Quran is Mandatory

The most compelling reason is that no human being has the option of not learning the Quran. This amazing book is the simplest divine document for the guidance of humanity but still remains beyond the reach of human intellect in its literary prowess. You cannot understand the Quran unless you read it in Arabic. So it is compulsory for you to learn the Quran in Arabic.

2. In the Words of Allah

Allah has made the Quran easy to learn by saying:

Allah has made Quran easy to learn for everyone.

Again, Allah says,

Allah has made Quran easy for direction and guidance.

This way, Allah has made the hearts of all Muslims attached to learn the Quran. Generally, if a reader reads something many times over, they will get bored and tired. They might not find anything to gain from doing it repeatedly. But such is not true of the Quran because the hearts of Muslims become so attached to it that the more they read it and contemplate its meanings, the more pleasure they derive and the knowledge they gain.

3. In the Words of Our Prophetﷺ

The Messenger of Allahﷺ has made it clear that a person should avail every opportunity to recite the Quran. Our Prophet ﷺread it while standing up, sitting down, or lying down, and in virtually every other situation or position. The Prophetﷺ says:

The best amongst you are those who learn the Quran and teach it.

When you will start learning the Quran online, you will see yourself improving in all aspects. Most of all, it will build up and strengthen your faith in Allah. Everything in life will come into perspective, and your goals will become clearer. You will start to put Allah in everything, be it business, personal affairs, livelihood, etc.

Allah promised to reward you twice if you find it hard to recite it.

The hadith narrated by Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) will keep you motivated. For every time you’ll stumble on some verses or stammer words in the Quran, it will remind you Allah is so Merciful, and He promised to reward you twice. Imagine for every slip-up you will make, you will get double the amount of rewards compared to when you have it right the first time. Isn’t this amazing?

4. Learn the Quran Because It’s All About You!

Another reason that you should learn the Quran online is that it is all about you. Sometimes, as you read the Quran, you find it hard to reflect or relate the verses to your life. You will encounter situations quite a few times as you are reading the translation. A useful tip is to immerse yourself in the verses.

Read the divine words as if you were there when Allah sent down them to our beloved Prophetﷺ. Put yourself in the situation and see at all different angles of what are the lessons Allah is giving to you through His words. You will find this method helpful in understanding what you read.

5. Qualified Teachers

This reason should be on top of your learning tips. Most Muslims cannot read the Quran in Arabic. They rely on the preaching and interpretation of Muslim scholars. A skilled teacher and his teaching style are thus invaluable. They are even more important than the history of the website running the course. They are part of your motivation to finish your class to the highest level.

You should enroll yourself for weekly online classes, as you can do it at your comfort without the hassle of getting ready, driving out, finding a parking space, etc. There are many classes available. Just choose the one that suits you.

In sum, Allah has done everything to make the Quran easy to understand and memorize. But Muslims should answer: where are they standing right now? No human speech can come even near to the eloquence of the Quran, and Allah has joined the words so well and so beautifully for anyone to find them easy to remember.
